This piece was written as part of a solo-etude project I undertook while studying composition with P. Q. Phan at Indiana. Apparently, in my previous work, I was "too nice" to non-pianists and my goal was to write something virtuosic for an instrument other than my own. :) Flights of Fancy would be a great showpiece for a graduate or talented undergraduate clarinetist's recital program (and you won't have to run around looking for an accompanist for this one!). This copy is scored for Bb clarinet but if you're interested, I can create an A clarinet transposition (to keep it at concert pitch).
