<i>Notes on the composition:</i>
Berceuse is a French term meaning “lullaby,” and the gently rocking left hand in this piece calls to mind a baby being
soothed to sleep in his or her crib. Thus, the Berceuse should always be played sweetly and gently, in the way that one
would sing to a baby, and the tempo should never be rushed.

VENTURING BEYOND features twenty late beginner to early intermediate-level piano solos, representing all key signatures with three or more sharps/flats (including enharmonics)--keys rarely seen in today's pedagogical piano literature for the early grades. These pieces, written in Baroque, Classical and Romantic styles, not only help acquaint students with the idea of reading "within keys," but they also introduce common musical genres of the Western Classical canon (including the scherzo, sarabande, minuet, and fugue).
