Summer & Fall 2018 Events

11/2018: The semester is coming to a close and audition prescreening deadlines are looming. If you anticipate needing to work with a pianist for your recordings or fall jury, let me know as soon as possible. As finals approach, more of my classroom music theory students will be requesting office hours and extra tutoring, which will limit my rehearsal schedule.

January piano studio waitlist positions remain unchanged. Should my classroom teaching load change in such a way that I can begin accepting new students, I will notify waitlisted students/families in the order in which they entered the waitlist. As always, piano proficiency exam takers seeking lessons as a way to prepare for their exams (in the same semester) are treated as part of my tutoring roster and not my studio roster, so they will not need to join the waitlist.

10/28/2018: On short notice I was asked to travel with four IU voice students to perform at the Central Region NATS (National Association of Teachers of Singing) competition. It was my first time performing with NATS competitors and each singer represented IU beautifully. Soprano Rachel Mauney and I performed in the public finals round recital, after which she was awarded third place in her division, including a cash prize and an invitation to audition for the national competition. Congrats, Rachel!

9/2018: You might have been wondering where I've been lately. Well, at the last minute, I was offered two classroom teaching opportunities at IU! I am teaching introductory and third-semester music theory courses in addition to my typical accompanying load and private studio, which has required me to establish a waiting list for all prospective new piano students. I will be reevaluating my schedule in January, and if my course load lowers, I can resume accepting piano students then. Please inquire if you'd like to set up an interview and join the waiting list. I am still accepting new collaborative partners on a case-by-case basis (schedule permitting) and am always available for short-term commitments like audition recordings, cattle calls, and competitions.

6/2018: I had a wonderful time participating as a Collaborative Piano Fellow at the Bay View Music Festival. The Art Song Recital featured collaborations with Rachel Marschner, James Hopkins, Brian Fenderson, and Clement Baloyi (with repertoire ranging from Bellini to Bolcom); I also accompanied fully staged scenes from Poulenc's Dialogues of the Carmelites, Mozart's La Clemenza di Tito, and Sondheim's A Little Night Music. Video recordings will be available at a later date.
